Touring the archives of P&G

A few days ago on my trip to P&G for their blogger event, we were able to take a tour of their corporate archives. P&G was founded in 1837 so we are talking serious consumer history – over 175 years! My inner anthropologist & marketing girl completely geeked out over the vintage packaging at P&G’s archives. It was beyond cool to see the transformation from everything from the 1800’s to the 1980’s to today.

P&G makes the brands that truly make up a part of my every day life – especially as a Mom juggling a family and home and all that comes with it – cleaning, laundry, dishes, medicine, beauty products, diapers and more! I can’t imagine life without these brands and it is fascinating to see where the brands came from and see their rich history.

Look at this vintage tide and Ivory soap. Did you know that Ivory soap was originally used both in the kitchen to do dishes and then people would break the bar of soap in half to bring the other bit to the bathroom to shower and wash with? Thus the 2 bar tradition if you remember that from your days as a kid too!

Look this old school washing machine! We have come a long way!

I love this bit of info about the original coupons people used for P&G – these little metal coins were coupons from 1925-1935. So funny!

Vicks is over 100 years old, and we opened some originally packaging that still had product in it – guess what it smells just like new!

Secret – I so remember using this roll on in the glass bottle as a kid!

Oil of Olay. All of us Moms on the trip were instantly transported to our own mother’s bathrooms when we looked at these pink bottles and when we took a sniff it also smelled just like we remembered. I want some now!

Note: Thanks to P&G for arranging all our travel expenses to Ohio so we could attend this press event. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
